Is your business female-friendly? How would you know?

Is your business female-friendly? How would you know? I’ve been spending the last couple weeks visiting stores that are almost 100% owned and operated by men. It is very clear to me that their sales would skyrocket if they only listened to their customer and took into consideration that the majority of purchasers are women.
Here are 2 quick questions to determine whether you are in sync with your female customers:
1. Have you set up your business environment to make women feel welcome? For example, if you have a restroom, do you have a hook on the back of the door to hang a purse/jacket on? Do you have a full mirror so they can make sure they are put back together before leaving the restroom? Sounds simple, but many restrooms do not offer this!
2. Have you and your staff learned how to make women feel welcome? Women have expectations about how they are greeted and how they are treated. They are also very observant. Your staff’s interactions with each other also directly impacts how women feel about your business. If your male staff treat your female staff differently, it will be noted.
If you have any insights or want to brag on your company for its Female-Friendliness, please comment right here.
