Making it through the gauntlet of sick children during a jam-packed work week

I was so thrilled to schedule a week of important, face-to-face meetings. Juggling time slots and meeting locations, I managed to create a jam-packed week of results-oriented action. So, why would it surprise me that this past Sunday evening around 2:30 a.m. my daughter taps my sleeping shoulder to tell me that she feels really sick. And thus began the domino effect of flu moving through a family of 6!

Everyone talks about “finding balance” but the truth is, there are times when your family really needs you. This week, I was so grateful for a husband who works from home, a mother-in-law who was a nurse, a reliable sitter who feels such a part of our family that even sickness doesn’t scare her off, and well-mannered children. It took each and every one of us functioning as a loving, caring group to get through this week. Oh, did I forget to mention a Birthday fell in the middle of all of this? There was great grace abundant in my home this week, even though it was messy and hard.
